ROHDE & SCHWARZ SMA100A (1400.0000.02)   Description / Specification:   Spec Sheet
ROHDE & SCHWARZ SMA100A 3 GHz Signal Generator

The R&S SMA 100A 3 GHz Signal Generator features very low SSB phase noise of typ. -135 dBc (20 kHz carrier offset, f = 1 GHz, 1 Hz measurement bandwidth), typ. -140 dBc with the Enhanced Phase Noise Performance option (R&S SMA-B22). Wideband noise of typ. -160 dBc (>10 MHz carrier offset, f = 1 GHz, 1 Hz measurement bandwidth). Nonharmonics of typ. -100 dBc (>10 kHz carrier offset, f < 1500 MHz, with the R&S SMA-B22 option). High-stability reference oscillator as standard. Very low phase noise at low frequencies due to internal division of the fundamental frequency range (750 MHz to 1500 MHz) down to 6.6 MHz. Ideal for use in production with very short frequency and level setting times of <3 ms across the entire frequency and level range, <450 µs in the list mode. Frequency setting time of typ. <10 µs within a bandwidth of 40 MHz due to direct access to the DDS-based synthesizer (with the R&S SMA-B20 or -B22 option). AM, broadband FM/phaseM (R&S SMA-B20 or -B22), pulse modulation. Remote control via GPIB or LAN.

Available Gain
Available Gain is the ratio, at a specific frequency, of power available from the output to the power in from the source.

Decibel (dB)
A unit of measurement of power which indicates relative power. A -10 dB means a reduction in power by 10 times, -20 dB means another 10 times or 100 times overall, -30 means another 10 times or 1000 times overall and so on.

Mismatch Uncertainty
Mismatch Uncertainty is caused by re-reflections between one device (the source) and the device that follows it (the load).

Pulse Power
Pulse Power, the energy transfer rate is averaged over the pulse width. Pulse width is considered to be the time between the 50 percent risetime/falltime amplitude points. Pulse power averages out any aberrations in the pulse envelope such as overshoot or ringing.
